Halloween Treats

Monday, 31 October 2011

Yesterday i made some halloween themed buns because i just couldnt resist. I first made rainbow buns with a friend when i was in year 8 and have loved making them ever since! So i altered the colours slightly to just orange and black for these buns. They are made with a basic sponge recipe (which i have shown below) but then go crazy with the colours and decorations.

100g margarine
100g caster sugar
100g self-raising flour
2 eggs

1. Beat together the marg and the sugar.
2. Then beat in one egg at a time, adding a little flour with each egg.
3. Fold in the remaining flour.

That is the basic recipe. However then i added a bit of vanilla essence, because the colouring can sometimes alter the flavour. Then to get halloween themed buns..

4. Split the mixture into two bowls and added different food colouring to each.
5. Spoon the mixtures into the bun cases, adding the different colours in random ways.
6. Place in an oven at 180 degrees for about 15 mins.

To decorate i sprinkled a pinch of icing sugar over any of the top bits which were showing black, this gave them an eerie look! And on the mainly orange tops i iced on some halloween shapes. Here is the final product:

I love this picture. I would love to own a quilt like this, might make one one day.

Its half term this week so i am off college. I've been to watch football with my dad at the weekend. I spent a day with my brother where we baked cookies and went swimming. And then a day with my granny and grandad where we visited Cliffe Castle Museum and saw an exhibition by David Hockney. The museum was so much better than i thought it would be, such a random selection of exhibitions, i really wish i had taken a camera with me. This holiday i still have lots i am going to do. Shopping with my friends tomorrow in leeds, an 18th birthday, work for college and baking for halloween.

My nail varnish collection had grown alot over the last year. The problem is, i see a new shade i want which i slightly different to the ones i have, so i end up buying it! I paint my nails quite a bit though because i have to take it off for work so i can use a new colour frequently. My favourites at the moment are the red rimmel one and the sparkly mauve from models own (and any other sparkly ones.) What shades are your favourite? Any i should buy?

Collars and funny faces

Tuesday, 18 October 2011

This is what i wore today, with more layers of course. I love the collar on this shirt and cant wait to wear it under my new knitted jumper with just the collar poking out. I cant take outfit photos outside anymore really because by the time i get home its too dark! So this cream wall in my living room will have to do.
I am actually looking forward to this colder weather, the chance to layer up tops jumpers and coats, and drink lots of hot chocolate. I will get some photos of my new winter coat for you soon. Also think of doing a post on my expanding collection of nail varnishes. Probably need to sort them out to be honest!

Leggings and boots - Topshop
Stripy top - Zara

A few more things on my ever growing wish list. Think i am going to invest in a pair of chelsea boots this season and i like the shape of these a lot. I also currently seem to have a major weakness for stripes!
I have placed an order on urban outfitters taking advantage of their 15% off deal. I have ordered three tops and a wolly hat. So i will show you those when they arrive along with a few other new purchases.
Oh, and i am on the hunt for a good khaki parka (that sounds weird) for winter. So far i have been pretty unsucessful so if any one has seen any good ones in the shops at the moment then let me know :)

I really wanted to get an outfit post or something done today but i dont know how to get any decent photos. All the fam are busy and there is nowhere i can really put the camera to get it on self timer. Going to try sort something though, i wear my own clothes everyday seeing as im in college so it would be nice to show you what i wear.

I might be wrong, but nothing lasts for ever

Thought i would do this separate from my inspiration/tumblr post. I have had a pretty rubbish week. Things have got between me and my boyfriend these past few weeks and we are both just so busy things havent been working. We broke up on thursday night. The hardest part is that i still care and i am just hoping that he can still be in my life.
All my family and friends have been amazing :)  they are all keeping my head up. I just have to look forwards now, so much more to come!

Me + my girls

Tuesday, 4 October 2011

Last night i went out for a meal with my two favourite girls in the world. We have been friends since we were 6 but are now all at different colleges, decided we needed to do something together but dint fancy the usual cinema.

 (L-R) Imogen, Hannah, Me

We went to an italian restaurant near where we live called Pregos. I had a pizza with roasted peppers on and we shared a profiteroles for pudding. We also had a cheeky bottle of wine with our meal seeing as the waiter bought over the wine menu for us. It was a really lovely evening and i think we are going to have to start meeting up as a three more often!
Can't wait till wednesday this week because i am going to see Kids In Glass Houses with my boyfriend at Leeds o2, HAPPY TIMES.

In the good old days.

Sunday, 2 October 2011

This is a photo of me and my uncle. I think i must be about 5 or 6 in this photo. Its taken when i used to live in london, on the corner outside our old house. I just love that we have matching tops.

Everything is moving so quickly these days and sometimes i like to just look back at what things used to be like. Back when life was simple. My application has gone off to the unis now, how scary is that. Everyone is growing up around me. All my friends are starting to turn 18! Im having to actually plan for my life ahead.

Sorry about the little reminiscing there. Needed to get it out the system. I have had a great weekend this week though. Made the best of the gorgeous weather and went to the park with some friends. Then we all came back for a party at mine. Good times.
