Manicure Monday #1

Monday, 14 October 2013

Since I last stopped blogging back in February my nail polish collection has only grown and grown. I still love doing nail art, although often don't have enough time. But I though I would share on here when I did create a pattern or use a colour I like. My latest attempt is inspired by Caroline's nails from last month.

R-L: topshop 'green room', models own white nail art pen, seche vite dry fast top coat

It definitely takes a steady hand, and doing my right nails needs a bit more practice, but I love the finished look. I have had quite a few people compliment me on it the past few days. I went for one larger print on each nail and then filling in around it with dots or little patterns. It made it easier to fit everything onto each nail.
I am also loving the seche vite topcoat! I got it for my birthday over summer and use it all the time now and it has definitely helped to make my polish last longer.

Denim shirt and a green knit

Jumper - Topshop, Shirt - UO Renewal, Jeans - Jack Wills, Converse - Office

Quick outfit for you, not done one in ages! I am back home now for the christmas holidays so some of you may notice iim in front of my usual wall and my lovely brother is taking my photos again. Hopefully i will be able to get some more frequent outfit shots for you over christmas!

This is quite a typical me outfit. As much as i love wearing skirts, dresses and tights you cant beat a pair of jeans, a big shirt and a jumper. I am actually looking out for a new pair of black skinny jeans. I love the really dark colour of these, but didnt realise at the time how low rise they were so they just annoy me! Got to love high waisted jeans :)

Its not something i mention often on here (because i know most people wont care haha) but i am a big football fan and support one of my local teams Bradford City. Tonight me and my dad are going to watch them and it is going to be one of the biggest games i have ever been too! We are playing at home against Arsenal in the cup with a sell out crowd! *excited squeal*

Bringing it back to something more relatable.. nails. This is my latest christmas nail art, a wintery snowflake design.

Snowflake design

Its really simple to do but i love how pretty it is and it goes with loads of outfits because its not too bright. Will be doing a big post on christmas nail art soon!

And i cant forget to mention the new illustration i have in my sidebar! It was done buy the wonderful Hannah who also writes a lovely blog so make sure you go and check that out :)

#1 Christmas outfit

Tuesday, 20 November 2012

So its just over a month till christmas now. I cant believe it has come around to fast! It definitely has to be my favourite time of year, made even more special this year because it will the first time in about 3 months that i will be spending weeks at home. I cannot wait to bake and DIY gifts and decorations, see all my family, eat lots of christmas goodies, give and receive presents and just enjoy a break away from work. So i thought i would share a little series of christmas posts with you all. Starting with a bloggers staple: clothes!

Dress - Monki
Nail polish and necklace - Topshop
Loose powder - Barry M
Heels - Miss Selfridge

This is not a usual outfit for me, but when i saw it i fell in love with this dress. Its something i would have to try on because i find i love the idea of midi dresses and skirts but they dont suit me. But i think it would make the perfect christmas party dress! Ive also picked a few items that i would pair with it. Gone for black accessories (with the exception of gold sparkly nail polish) because i think the dress would look better with a simple outfit. What do you think of this ensemble?
Also, let me know if you have done any christmas outfits with party dresses. I am on the hunt this year for the perfect one!

Bonfire night outfit

Saturday, 3 November 2012

Halloween and bonfire night are definitely two of my favourite times of the year (after christmas of course!) I love the traditions behind them and getting together with friends and family to dress up or go and watch the local fireworks. I am going to a bonfire in the park on monday night and cannot wait. There is a fairground in the evening followed by a big bonfire and fireworks! I was putting together a quick selection of items that i would wear. It usually gets freezing cold and i love to be wrapped up cosy and warm so a good scarf, gloves and thick coat are essential. And the fact these gloves are just pretty cool..

Tomorrow i am hoping to bake some parkin, which no one seems to have heard of at uni!? Will have to see if this new oven is up to standards. If all goes well there should be a blog post up on it :)

Minnie dress

Monday, 22 October 2012

I posted about the items i had picked out of the topshop sale last week, and thought i would show you one in an outfit post today. It doesnt photograph that well and looks much better irl. But this is a little dress by Annie Greenabelle for topshop.

This is the first time i have done an outfit post in my uni room. With a bit of rearranging of the furniture i can set up my tripod to get photos against a blank wall. My face wasnt cooperating in these photos though hence why it is just pictures of the dress (although thats all that matters!). I would pair this with my large parka coat from topshop that i got last year because its definitely too chilly to wear on its own.
The last photo is a quick snap of how i have been doing my hair quite a lot lately. I have left it curly and clipped it back with some large jaw grip clips from boots. Its a really easy way to get my fringe back out of my face without just tucking it behind my ear which gets a bit boring.

Topshop sale picks

Monday, 15 October 2012

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

Got an email about the topshop sale this morning and i know how fast things can sell out so i got my order in early! The first top is the kind of thing i wear really often, and i love the elbow pads on this so this was added straight to my basket. And it was a bargain at £10. This drop waist dress will look great layered up for winter, im thinking with thick grey tights, a cardigan and a big parka coat. Both 3 and 4 go quite well together i think and this tee will be a staple in my wardrobe. At £40 i would never pay full price, but £20 is more reasonable. The dress is a bit different and i have been looking at getting some slightly smarter clothes since i will need to wear them during my placements at hospital. Not sure if this is a little too posh though.
What are your picks from the sale?

Parma Violet

Sunday, 30 September 2012

Quick update. These were my nails from a few weeks ago. I used topshop 'Parma Violet' for the base and models own nail art pen in white for the dots. I did random patterns of dots and left some without. I quite like having a simple nail art sometimes.

I have ordered my camera so it should arrive next week. I have gone for the panasonic lumix fz48 bridge camera and bought some accessories to go with it. Will be able to get some photos of some new nail art and some recent purchases when it arrives.

Floral Peplum Tee

Wednesday, 5 September 2012

This is one of my go-to hairstyles at the moment, its done with a hair donut. Most people already know how to do it but i have only lately found a way that works for me. If people like i can show a quick tutorial.

Top - topshop, leggings - zara, hoody - american apparel, converse - office

I had this top on my wishlist and ordered it when topshop had free delivery, and with student discount on top it only came to £10.20 which i think is quite reasonable. I love the print on it and think peplum tops are really flattering. This is a simple outfit but i was only ticking off a to-do list yesterday so wanted to be comfortable. It got sunny later on so i didnt actually need my hoody, think the outfit looks better without it anyway.

Had a successful ikea trip on monday. Which actually turned into ikea/sainsburys/wilkinsons/john lewis by the time we had finished! But i think i am now fully kitted out for university life. I need to sort through everything in my room but have a week still to do that.
As well as sorting the next week will be filled with seeing my friends and saying lots of goodbyes. Going to my friends tomorrow where we will cook a meal for a group of us, going out a couple of times for birthdays too and saying goodbye to people at work. One thing i am looking forward to is being able to paint my nails without having to take it off for work all the time! Look out for more nail/design posts to come.

Hope people who have already gone back too school are enjoying themselves. I honestly cant wait to get into university!

Autumn's arriving

Tuesday, 28 August 2012

I seem to have a habit of looking at random bits of my room when i am making a video, just ignore it haha. Ive definitely been drawn to autumn pieces lately, i think it is one of my favourite seasons in england. My favourite purchase is the studded shirt from zara. It was one of those items i saw and just couldnt leave the shop without. I hope these videos are okay. Personally i think i sound pretty annoying! But it really is the easiest way to show you the things i have bought.

I have been trying out a few new hairstyles lately. Its not really something i have ever done on this blog but would anyone be interested in me showing a few? It will probably just be some photos of the finished product rather than a tutorial because they are simple styles. Let me know because i love to read them on other peoples blogs and watching youtube videos.

Ps. I am looking at buying a camera for uni, because i usually use my mums and still want to be able to take good photos when i am away. I would love some advice on what to get so if anyone is good on cameras then give me a bell.

Wishlist #1

Wednesday, 22 August 2012

This is a random collection of what i would call autumn pieces. I am definitely after a pair of good boots that will last me all the way through winter and i really like the stud detailing on these. Although i also like chelsea boots and have wanted a pair for quite a few years. The underwear is expensive, but a girl can treat herself once in a while right? The top is just pretty. And i am loving the peplum style by topshop at the moment. And ok, i probably own too many nail polishes already, but one more wont do any harm! I bought 'hidden treasure' by topshop not long ago and was a little disappointed with the colour. It is more just plain gold on the nail than a mix with green. So i hope this one is better.
Finally i really want to get my hands on a Kigu onesie. I saw them after a post on Katy's blog and they look ridiculously comfy. Oh and it would be perfect for fancy dress in freshers week at uni. My favourite is the giraffe, but i love the red fox and the kangaroo too!
Not included on here but i also have the Delilah Dust purple druzy necklace on my wishlist, i love the stone that is used on it. There are some new silver charm necklaces in stock too, so check them out and you can use the code 'alicelily' at the checkout to get 10% off!
Might try and make this a more regular feature. I dont seem to do anything regularly on this blog.

This is where the new chapter begins

Tuesday, 21 August 2012

Been a bit absent from the blog this last week, although i have been reading everyones posts still. I got my results last thursday morning and i got the grades i needed! So i am going to study medicine at manchester uni in september. I am really excited because since then i have also found out my accommodation and have been chatting some people who will be on my corridor. My official move date is the 13th which isnt that far away! So i have lots to get sorted before then, including going through all my clothes so there may end up with a lot on ebay. Hope everyone else who got results got what they wanted.

Got a few shots of an outfit i wore last week.

Maxi dress - h&m, top - topshop, converse - office

Frizzy hair day. It actually got too warm to wear a top over the dress later that day, but i like how it looks. Had a lovely weekend with my family and my auntie and uncle who came over from america :) we took a visit to the yorkshire sculpture park and had some lovely sunny weather to wander round the grounds in. Wish i had taken some pictures actually, my mum has a few.
Hope everyone is enjoying the last of the summer holidays.

Skinny Love

Tuesday, 14 August 2012

Got another outfit post for you. Two in the same week, go me!

Jeans and top - topshop, flip flops - dorothy perkins

I bought these jeans recently from the topshop sale. They are the high waist Kristen jeans and i already had this style in another colour. I think they fit really well and are really comfy. I dont like to buy jeans now unless they are high waisted, think i am going to sell my low rise black skinnies at some point. I know a lot of bloggers prefer skirts and dresses, which i love too, but sometimes i think you cant beat a pair of skinny jeans.

Thought id also show you a few bracelets from my collection, these are the ones i wear quite often. Ive worn my watch everyday since i got it for christmas in 2010. Its actually got a couple of scratches on the face now :( The black one is what my brother bought me back when he went on a school trip to france. I love how delicate the bracelet my best friend got my for my birthday is. It has a small A and a love heart engraved into the silver charm. The colourful ones are mainly from holidays, although i have quite a few friendship style bracelets i have made myself. As well as these i have loads i have bought online which i also love to wear. But i do like to have a story behind some of them.

Top + shorts: Topshop, shoes: office

This is an outfit i had on in the middle of last week, before the pouting rain came! The shorts are a new pair. I bought two from topshop lately and they are both really comfortable. I bought the size up in these ones to make sure they are long enough and they still fit really well on my waist. The top is an old one from topshop but i still love wearing it, goes really easily with lots of things.
I dont think i have shown my vans that often on here but they are my go to footwear. I have two pairs of vans, and two pairs of converse. After rambling on about the problems i sometimes have with shoes in my last post these style are perfect. Obligatory shot of my cat in the second picture. He is such a cutie! Always comes up when we are taking photos and chases around my feet.

I have had quite a lot going on recently. Completely finished my exams today so i am FREE! So having been using my time and getting lots of things done. Will be getting more posts up asap. And really need to sort my blog header out, i am useless with html. Anyone good at it?

Summer lust

Thursday, 21 June 2012

Okay so this outfit might have been more appropriate for the past few days (typical english weather pouring down all today!) Lately all i have been buying and wishlisting are summer clothes, wishing the time away till i go to portugal with my boyfriend and the family. Ive got a post to come in a few days on maxi dresses which are my new clothing crush. I would really love to own the outfit though. The espadrille wedges are very summery and would look good dressed up or down. The strap would be needed to hold my foot in the shoe. These shorts (sold out in my size on the website, wahhh) are pretty cool. Will have to hunt them down in a store. They look fairly short but i think you can get away with that when its really hot. Love the tribal print stitched into the pockets. Then keeping it simple with a white scalloped edge shirt.
This backpack is from Lazy Oaf. Ever since i bought a backpack in september im not sure i can use another type of bag to carry my things around in to places like college. I returned the one shown in my video. Backpacks are just so much more comfortable! And i checked with Lazy Oaf, this one is big enough to hold my macbook which i s what i need because the one i have at the moment is too small.

Wow. All that actually came out pretty long! I only have two exams left now, got my maths one out the way today. Not looking forward to a 25 mark biology essay tomorrow though. Whos idea was it to ever put an essay in a biology exam?! Well i had best go revise.

Awkward video time. I really want to find out how to edit videos (any good suggestions?) cause some bits in here need cutting out cause i sound like an idiot! But here it is anyway, because it really is much easy to video what i got rather than take photos of everything.

Links to all items: maxi dress, leather bag (sold out), turquoise sandals, black sandals, boat shoes, pink shorts, lilac shorts, ankle socks, floral bandeau, floppy hat (not online)

Hope you like this haha. I do actually quite like watching videos of the blogs i read because people never sound like i expect them too! I have 4 more exams left now, except two are general studies so dont really count.. This weekend though we have a cousin staying over from australia which will be nice. I have only ever met him once when we went to australia when i was 12 so i dont have a clue what he is like! Also looking forward to the football tonight, come on england. Just wish this weather would clear up and give us some sun! And thank you for all your lovely comments on my latest posts, really makes my day :)

There's oh so much that you deserve

Wednesday, 30 May 2012

I get so distracted when i am on study leave, i spend my time refreshing twitter, reading blogs, looking for outfit inspiration, taking photos and eating, oh and occasionally revising. So here are some photos of the outfit i had on today.

Top - topshop, Skirt - handmade, Socks - topshop, Shoes - vans

Our cat, zebedee, sneaked into the last photo. I dont think he is very well atm :( Its got a bit cooler today because the clouds are back, after that amazing bit of weather that we had in england! I hope that it goes back to that for the summer holidays.

If you follow me on twitter you will have seen that yesterday my tickets to see Coldplay arrived. I actually cant wait. I am taking my mum to see them for her birthday and have been waiting since january when i bought the tickets. Less than two weeks left now.

Also i made an order from Elf on monday night and the package has already come this morning, which is really quick delivery. This is the first time i have ordered from them even though i have had some of their products bookmarked for ages. I made use of the 20% off code that i got at the Bloggers Boutique and have bought some false eyelashes, nail polishes and a lip tint. I will get a post up on them soon. The lip tint i have on in the picture is Elf's 'Moisturising Lip Tint Spf 8' in rose which is one that came in the goody bag from the bloggers boutique.

Nail polish - Models Own 'Soda Pop Pink' and 'Ibiza Mix'
Playsuit - Jack Wills
Coral Dress - Miss Selfridge
Socks and earrings - Topshop
Satchel - Zatchels

A bit of a wishlist at the moment. I love the blues and the corals from this colour palette, i wish summer would hurry up. This blog is a great form of procrastination to get away from revision (bad idea seeing as i really need to revise.) But as exams begin to start i may be a bit quiet on here and twitter. There isnt much to talk about when all i am doing is sitting at my desk writing notes out!

I do have a few posts that i would like to do though. One is a holidays post, similar to that of Niinas because i really enjoyed reading that. I think i may also do a question & answer video. So if anyone has anything to ask then pop it in the comments below or tweet me, if i have enough i will give that a go.

Golden tooth

Thursday, 26 April 2012

Sorry this post has taken so long to get up, but a big thank you Shabna whose giveaway this is from! I got from her a gorgeous topshop lipstick and gold tooth bracelet.

The colour probably isnt one that i would wear everyday, it has quite an orangey tone to it, but it would be lovely with a black outfit for a meal/night out. I like the consistency of it, but it did seem to dry my lips out a little so some lip balm over the top was needed. Not sure if all topshop lipsticks are like this? The bracelet has been on my wrist nearly everyday lately. I have had loads of compliments on it too. It is just the kind of things i love to wear! You should definitely all go check out her blog, its a great read.

I might be hit and miss with posting over the next few months with exams coming up (arent we all). But i hope to try get some outfit posts in soon, if this rain ever clears! You can keep up-to-date on my twitter. I have also created a 'blog button'. I want to redesign it, maybe with an illustration which better represents my blog, but its a start. Let me know if any of you put it up on your blog! The link is underneath.

On another note i have finally firmed Manchester as my top uni and got Liverpool down as my insurance. Its all so real now.

Daisies and blazers

Saturday, 21 April 2012

I havent blogged since tuesday, thats ages ago! Ive not done anything particular this week, but have been busy running around and doing little bits here and there. Got an outfit post for you today. The sun cam out for a bit and so far it hasnt rained, fingers crossed it stays like that. So i took the chance to get a few snaps (all taken by my lovely brother).

Blazer - river island, jeans - cheap monday, top - topshop, vans - office

I have such a grumpy face in some of these photos, the sun was so bright and in my eyes! But i love the colours in this outfit. I bought these jeans well over a year ago and havent really got much wear out of them. But lately i find they fit with what i wear a lot more and look pretty cute rolled up with my vans. This top is really easy to pair with just about anything and i find myself wearing it quite a lot over leggings.
I have also done my nails again, inspired by Gem's blog.

I decided to go for a shiny background (topshop - cosmic karma) so that they weren't too plain and then used models own nail art pen for the yellow and a kirby grip and models own snow white for the petals.

This week we have also booked our family holiday! I am really excited and just cant wait for summer. Both mine and my sisters boyfriends are coming with us too and we are going to a villa in the south of portugal.
If anyone has a lomograpgy camera i would love some tips. I am thinking of buying a diana f+ mini but know nothing really about film or processing.. So any help would be great :)
